About Keeping Abreast
Keeping Abreast offer ‘patient led’ support for women who are facing or who have faced mastectomy after the diagnosis of breast cancer or the discovery of a breast cancer gene. We support these ladies through a very confusing and extremely emotional time when they have to make some difficult decisions when considering or undergoing breast reconstruction. Established by two patients and their Breast Reconstruction Specialist nurse, knowing that 1 in 8 women in the UK develop breast cancer in their lifetime, they recognised a need to support patients at this time.
