Munchkins Miniature Shetland Rescue Munchkins Miniature Shetland Rescue was set up in 2014 to rescue miniature shetland ponies from abuse, abandoment and neglect. We achieved charity status in February 2015. Our registered charity number is 1160509. Many shetlands are bought as a companion or simply to be cute. They often fall into the wrong hands and can suffer neglect and abuse by people who do not know how to care for them. These ponies often do not get the handling and treatment that they need, becoming labelled as 'naughty' and developing bad habits. Many are indiscriminately bred ending up at sales or going to the 'meat man'.
We offer a home to miniature Shetlands who are in genuine need and provide all the necessary attention plus an extra bit of 'TLC'
