Rare Breeds Survival Trust The Rare Breeds Survival Trust is fighting for a healthier and more diverse natural environment by ensuring that our own native and rare farm animal breeds of sheep, cattle, pigs, goats, horses, poultry and geese can survive and thrive.
Between 1900 and 1973, the United Kingdom lost 26 of its native breeds of livestock. RBST was established in 1973, since when nothing has become extinct.
The RBST is the only organization dedicated to the conservation and support of all our native breeds. We have made a unique contribution to our natural living heritage. We do this through a combination of rigorous conservation programmes, research, monitoring, education, advocacy and grass roots practice.
Our natural living heritage needs your support.
