Sunderland Maritime Heritage Sunderland Maritime Heritage is manned entirely by unpaid volunteers and our aim is to preserve the artefacts, documents, pictures and skills of the shipyard workers that contributed to shipbuilding in Sunderland on the River Wear. We have a workshop where you can see us working on wooden boats and display areas of boats (large and small), artefacts and display panels.
